Abstract: |
In high-rise buildings, the main problem is that as the number of stories increases, the weight of the building increases (dead load). Bricks are mostly used for non-structural purposes but are heavier, seismically vulnerable to earthquakes, and not eco-friendly. The lightweight panels already exist but are quite expansive and lack performance in strength and thermal properties. |
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
Our product which is developed panels will replace the bricks in the buildings and will lead to decreasing the weight of buildings. Bricks are heavier, more vulnerable to seismic activities, and unsustainable products to use in buildings as partition walls. |
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
if directly then of course it is the need of most builders and investors as these will decrease the cost of the construction by reducing the need for steel. But indirectly it is mainly important for the public as this will ultimately increase the affordability of condos and flats. |
How will the solution works |
At first, artificial aggregates will be produced using local clay from different regions of Pakistan and fly ash. These artificial lightweight aggregates will be used in the production of panels by replacing the natural aggregate to make the concrete lighter. Using these aggregates, panels will be developed of standard size in order to be used as partition walls. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Our direct competitors are the bricks producer and indirectly we are competing with the lightweight panels imported from outside of the country. These imported panels are more expensive, less can afford to increase construction costs. Bricks have more disadvantages and fewer advantages. |
