Abstract:
    The main goal is durability of bamboo after (Acid) chemical treatment to be utilized in green construction. To develop an optimal solution about bamboos suitability in construction in terms of its strength and durability. Utilization of pretreated bamboo with the replacement of steel in composite beam and column structure, thus comparing the physical and mechanical properties.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    In Pakistan there is ultimate need of solutions which can meet the crisis as climate change and floods these days. Bamboo as green plant maintains the balance in temperature and prevents the global temperature rise, thus utilizing it as a construction material; economical as well meeting the needs.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Likelihood of extreme weather occurrences like storms, droughts, heat waves, and floods is currently a serious concern due to climate change. It also has an effect on infrastructure, human health, food costs, and the migration patterns of both people and animals, ultimately the entire globe needs it
How will the solution works
    It will demonstrate mechanical and physical properties of bamboo before and after chemical treatment. Samples will be prepared for strength tests(tension, flexure, shear, compression) and durability test from a dried bamboo. They will undergo acid pretreatment(CH3COOH, ZnCl2) by diffusion method. It will decrease the hygroscopic nature and enhance the strength and durable properties of bamboo. FTIR, TGA and XRD will be performed. The optimum results would be utilized in beam and column structure
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    With rising concern about climate change and sustainable development, bamboo has emerged as a highly promising building material as it consumes less energy in its production than cement, steel and brick. It is highly renewable and fastest growing thus, suitable const. material and unique in itself.
