Abstract:
    The pain point in drones and UAVs is energy consumption of batteries during take-off and landing. This requires heavy batteries making their development expensive. To eliminate this energy consumption and add portability to the launch/take-off of UAVs, we are designing a mechanism that can do both efficiently and inexpensively.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    The main target of this product is to minimize energy consumption and improve portability of UAVs. Using the proposed solution, the take-off and landing energy comsumption is minimized while the initiation of flight can be done from anywhere.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The main target market for the product is military industry. As the main purpose of this UAV is deliver payload to the targeted area, it could be done so efficiently using this product by the military.
How will the solution works
    To cater for the energy consumption during take-off, we eliminate VTOL and taxi-ray requirements by initiating the flight using a pressurized tube-launching mechanism. This will immediately launch the flight into action. To make sure that the UAV fits into launching chamber, the design of wings is done to make them foldable.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    The main competitor in this regard would be AeroVironment. Although our product is similar in some regards, the main selling point would be the cost. AeroVironment's drones cost around $10000 while ours, if adopted, would be very inexpensive.
