Abstract:
    Potential energy from fluid flow of small rivers or irrigations could be extracted become electricity by using screw turbine. This turbine is promising because the advantages of ultra-low head and fish friendly. Experimental performance of screw turbine for ultra-low head hydro resource is guaranteed.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Due to awareness about the importance of a sustainable environment, the role of renewable energy has been recognized as great significance for the global environmental concerns. Particularly in lower head hydro resource, the cost of the commercially available screw turbines is low.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   People living in northern areas where there are countless free flowing water streams. Also people living near canals and spillway streams.
How will the solution works
    The water at the top of the screw moves down, rotating the screw as it travels, and that rotation can generate electricity through a generator/Alternator. This makes Archimedean screws an alternative model for generating hydroelectric power.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Waterwheels have been used instead of Screw turbines due to easy machineability in the past. But in the modern era screw turbines can be manufactured with the same ease with lower costs and higher efficiencies.
