Abstract:
Throughout its design life, pavement construction attempts to withstand traffic loads and environmental conditions. Some of the important factors taken into account during a thorough pavement design process include good riding quality, durability, fatigue, and rutting characteristics. The two primary options for road construction historically have been flexible and rigid pavements.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
When exposed to high traffic loads and poor weather, conventional flexible pavements are more prone to rutting and fatigue distresses. Flexible pavement has a relatively short useful life, hence routine maintenance is needed to keep the pavement in good shape.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
The cost of flexible pavement is also raised by routine maintenance. The main causes of the distresses in flexible pavement include overloading problems, improper mix design, material selection errors, and quality compromises made during construction.
How will the solution works
Traditionally, Portland cement grout has been added to open-graded asphalt mixtures as a cementitious slurry which creates a semi-flexible layer. Numerous scientists have carried out thorough laboratory and field tests to evaluate the effectiveness of semi-flexible pavement, and the results revealed a notable improvement in compressive strength, stability, and durability. It has been suggested that a pavement layer that is semi-flexible would offer a more effective defense against rutting.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
There are two main categories of grouting materials: cement-based grouts and chemical grouts. According to prior research, cement-based grouts are frequently used in grouting engineering, including pavement, slope, and ground cracks, since they are inexpensive, have outstanding durability.
