| Abstract: |
| Soils have an important role in the life of a civil engineer. Before moving towards the construction of the superstructure the subsoil is checked whether it can bear the weight of the structure or not. Our idea is to improve the soils using an environmentally friendly material. An indigenous material found in Gilgit Baltistan. It works well in soils and provides strength and bearing capacity. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| The unmet need that my idea will fulfil is that climate change is a very important aspect to be considered seriously. I want to make the construction industry more sustainable and environmentally friendly. My idea of introducing natural materials will promote sustainability and growth. |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| My idea will be helpful for anyone living in Pakistan. If his/her land does not have suitable bearing capacity. Introduce this material to the soil and the strength will be achieved. The aspects are interlinked, it will help Pakistan to grow. Secondly, everyone wants a better and healthy environment |
| How will the solution works |
| We will be needing an optimum or minimum lime content to react with our natural material. It can be achieved by laboratory testing. As different soils have different characteristics so depending upon their type we get an optimum lime content and natural material content. Once we find it we add it to the ground using different techniques like deep mixing, making their grout and introducing it in the soil. In this way, they form a CSH gel and in turn fill the pores and increase the soil capacity. |
