Abstract:
Crumb rubber (CR) in concrete, with recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) and polypropylene fiber combined, constitutes a way of reusing and recycling waste material and providing green and sustainable concrete structures. As crumbed rubber and recycled aggregate decrease the strength of concrete, the polypropylene fiber tends to increase the strength of concrete.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
Crumb rubber (CR) in concrete, with recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) and polypropylene fiber combined, constitutes a way of reusing and recycling waste material and providing green and sustainable concrete structures.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
The construction industry in Pakistan will get benefit from it.
How will the solution works
An optimum percentage of CR, RCA, and polypropylene fibers will be taken based on previous studies. CR and RCA will be treated and their effect on the strength of RAC will be recorded. Stone query dust will be used to treat the crumb rubber as stone query dust has a higher compressive strength than natural sand, so the treatment of stone query dust over CR will increase its strength and hence the strength of RAC. The optimum percentages and processes of both the treatments will be worked out.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
It will help to add a new way to use waste materials in concrete.
