Abstract:
    The final year project is focused on the rendering the structure light weight by making use of non-conventional design methodologies of non-linear modeling which would help reduce the cross section of structural elements and recommending the use of different construction material which would further reduce the weight of the structure.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    For heavy structures and low soil strength we need to provide deep foundation or thick rafts to effectively transfer the loads which increases the cost of the construction. With the weight of structure 15-20% lighter, the need for excessive foundations will reduce a lot.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The main beneficiary is the owner. The owner would now be spending less money for construction as with the design approach that we will recommend the cross section of the structural element will reduce and therefore the quantity of the required concrete too without any compromise to the stability.
How will the solution works
    The solution is the use of non-linear modeling of material and elements instead of the conventional linear modeling which results in yielding the larger cross-section of the structural elements i.e., beam, column or slab etc. The other solution is the use of lightweight construction materials such as CLC blocks or foam concrete instead of conventional bricks which are heavy. Similarly the unnecessary thicknesses of structural elements will be reduced which would reduce the weight of structure.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Conventional manufacturers and the designers are my competitors. We are homing on to new innovative light weight material and cladding system which will result in 15-20% lighter structure. So conventional brick kiln manufacturers and designers are my competitors.
