Abstract: |
Light Gauge Steel (LGS)/Cold Formed Steel (CFS) construction is a practical, code approved solution to many of the limitations that builders face today when using conventional materials. LGS construction methods make for faster build times, lower overall costs, more versatile, scalable design solutions, and better building performance. Thus making it a solid, sustainable building program.
|
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
LGS will address following issues:
Depleting Resources
Carbon footprints
High Dead Load
Non-Versatility in construction
Long time of construction
Accuracy issues
Concrete Jungle contributing to global warming and rise in temperatures in cities
Improved façade
Flexibility in construction
|
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
Govt/ companies interested in large scale, homogenously designed projects would benefit the most. Moreover once readily available , it would reduce the overall cost thus pique general populations interest. |
How will the solution works |
Substituting conventional RCC/PCC framework with LGS/CFS sections and the benefits achieved in economy and design would be the hallmark of this study. Analytical models would be used to show behavior of steel sections. Additionally using software compatible with manufacturing machines, the manufacturing and preparation of drawings will become one window operation. |
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
Technically speaking all of the existing construction industry would constitute as our our competitors. But being a contemporary solution to a wide range of problems it would give designer the necessary space for out of the box designs and help contractors to execute with speed and accuracy. |
