| Abstract: |
| There are alot of deaths worldwide due to construction fires and being a Pakistani and witnessing events like the fire outbreak of Baldiya Town factory and chemical factories in Karachi. Developing a system to help workers escape in case of fire is of dire need. Thus, this project will be a step in the direction of providing insitu guidance to workers in case of hazards. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| Out of total deaths of workers worldwide almost 75% occur in construction sites. Out of these considerable share of these occur through fire hazards. Although considerable measures have been taken to combat other means of hazards but only limited measures have been taken in the area of fire hazards |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| This project is of dire need considering the deaths that occur on daily basis due to fire in construction sites and mines etc because of inability on workers to find a safe route out. This project will depict the safe exit paths and mark the dangerous ones unsafe to provide speedy exit for workers. |
| How will the solution works |
| The system involves an arduino circuit that receives data from a smoke and heat sensors to identify which paths are safe and unsafe and illuminate them green and red respectively using LED lights and audio announcements. This circuit then depicts the results on a control panel. |
| Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different |
| The only compeditors for this project is VAR based safety exit procedures that have been developed earlier. What makes this project unique is that is the only of its kind that helps the workers in real time and in situ. |
