| Mechanical innovation in design and working of transradial prosthesis for amputees which provides more functionality and helps with activities of daily living. |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? |
| Available models of transradial prosthesis are too expensive and do not provide all ranges of motion that are desirable. Limited functionality and issues that accompany these models lead to a number of patients abandoning their prosthesis each year. |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? |
| Children as well as aged adults who have to undergo amputation due to trauma, congenital deformities, infections etc. require prosthesis to go on about their daily life. This will benefit most amputees as our device will give them a hand? |
| How will the solution works |
| The prosthesis relies on EMG signal detection and a control system to allow dynamic hand motion. The signals originating from muscles are filtered, amplified, and fed to the processor, where they are processed and converted to instructions for the actuators. The actuators perform their operation according to the input, achieving the desired output motion of the prosthesis. |
