Abstract:
    Our team is working on designing and finding an efficient and effective way to design centrifugal compressor that will be used by industry partners. Different software will be used to automate the design of the centrifugal compressor. The material considerations will also provide opportunity to 3-D print the compressor components.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    The process of designing a centrifugal compressor is much complicated and requires a lot of effort. Most of the compressors are imported from foreign countries. At small scale, our project will aid in the design, analysis, and 3D printing of the compressor in Pakistan.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The major main beneficiary partner of our project will be our industry partners. Our software based automated programs can be used by most of the industries where centrifugal compressors are to be manufactured and utilized i.e., turbochargers, mini-turbine systems applications, etc.
How will the solution works
    Designing a centrifugal compressor includes designing the volute casing, the impeller blade angles and their configuration and lastly the guide vane orientation and their best possible integration. The designs will be made using software such as CFTURBO, SolidWorks. The optimal configuration will be achieved using design iterations after implementing Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis. The result of project will be a ready-to-be 3D printed model of centrifugal compressor.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    Only two prominent companies work on the design of centrifugal compressors (Rastgar, AtlasCopco), yet, both of them deal in providing a built-compressor, while we are providing the industry more control being in direct contact with us and using perfectly designed models for custom 3D printing.
