Abstract:
    Civil engineering structures undergo several types of damaging loads every day. So, there is a need for a real time system for the monitoring of health of these structures. We are going to monitor the structure with over prototype and deliver the results in a very laymen friendly UI. This will make the day-to-day health monitoring of structures very convenient and will ensure public safety.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Real time structural health monitoring (RTSHM) is expensive due to which its use is limited, which leads to damage in structures going undetected. Our project will provide cost effective RTSHM which will provide safer infrastructure for the society through early detection of structural damage.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   Every person living in the society utilizes infrastructure directly or indirectly for travel and dwelling. As this project, owing to early detection of damage, makes the infrastructure safer so the society and its member benefit from it.
How will the solution works
    Multiple devices containing an accelerometer connected with a micro controller will be mounted on the structure. The sensors will collect and transmit data to a server where data will be post processed for the extraction of dynamic parameters which will be used for the setup of baselines. The real-time health of the structure will be determined through deviation of incoming data from baselines and an alarm will be generated if the health of the structure is compromised.
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    In our scenario, there is no direct competition as all the other available solutions are expensive and are not developed indigenously. The unique feature of our solution is that its cost effective and will be developed locally which results in easier adaptability and implementation of the system.
