Abstract:
    A person’s manner of walking is called Gait. The project is to develop a device/band which will be placed on the user’s shin/shank area. The band will be used to track a person’s manner of walking and show stats related to his feet movement in real-time and give feedback, especially for early identification of any abnormality in his or her gait pattern.The stats will be shown on an android app.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Our Device will be used in the "early detection" of any abnormality related to a person's manner of walking which could be due to any disease such as Alzheimer's disease, etc. Already present devices are expensive, complex, immobile while our band will be budget friendly, portable and easy to use.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   The band can be used by normal people to timely detect any gait abnormality so that they can start the rehabilitation process before their disease gets severe. It can also be used by mild patients to correct their gait and by poor people who can't and don't know how to use expensive gait machines.
How will the solution works
    For the Gait band, we will be using Invensense MPU 6050 which has a bulit-in accelerometer and gyroscope which will detect the movement of a person's feet. Nordic NRF-52832 SOC has Bluetooth (BLE) functionality, which will be used in transferring the MPU 6050 signals to our mobile app. Our user-friendly android mobile app, will get the bluetooth signals and after processing the signals it will compare the data to already present Gait standards available, to detect abnormalities or any changes.`
Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different
    No small devices/bands have been designed yet. Some big machines (Rehawalk & Lokomat) have been developed which are expensive and complex to use, while our band is cheap and simple to use. No full time monitoring while our band can be used for 24/7 tracking and analysis. Also, our band is portable.
