Abstract:
    A vertical axis wind turbine containing two sets of concentric blades that extract energy from the wind more effectively. Wind energy is the least cost requiring renewable and sustainable energy generation method as of now.
What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ?
    Clean and sustainable energy source that can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with the solar energy. Both these sources are the most dominant renewable energy sources in the domestic market thus requiring development in their respective field.
Who needs it ? How many would benefit ?
   People living in remote areas having high speed wind conditions based on metrological data could benefit from this device. Renewable energy has a lot of potential and a very small share in the overall energy producion in Pakistan and this device can help tip the scales in its favor.
How will the solution works
    VAWTS are omni-directional in nature and this design combines the two basic modules so that energy can be extracted from the high speed wind as well as the consequent stagnant wind formed after the first balde set thus allowing maximum energy harvasting. Motion of the first blade type is dependent on the lift force genertaed due to its airfoil shaped cross-section while the second blade set works under the drag force genertaed due to its bucket shaped geometry.

    To our knowledge, currently there are no competitiors following the same design philosophy as ours in Pakistan.
