| Integrated BIM-GIS application can be effectively used for asset management of mine as it is the detailed and intelligent design incorporating various aspects of an asset. To visualize it, virtual reality would be used. The asset management would incorporate all the needed utilities required for a proper functioning of ventilation pipes, train tracks and electricity wires. | |
| What is the unmet need in society that your idea will fulfill ? | |
| Mines in Pakistan have depleted conditions with little or no management. We want to make a system for all stakeholders in mines who could manage different aspects of mines effectively. In this regard, BIM-GIS system can be used effectively to design infrastructure of mine and manage it. | |
| Who needs it ? How many would benefit ? | |
| It can help mine managers on far away offices and supervisors, engineers and miners in the mine. Furthermore, it can be used to help train miners. Another application of this system would be that it can help claustrophobics to overcome their fear virtually. | |
| How will the solution works | |
| First, we will make a mine model on BIM that will show tunnels and all the assets in the mine for example tracks, electricity wires and ventilation pipelines. Then we will transfer this model on ArcGIS Pro where we will use GIS routing and other techniques to help with asset management. Then we will integrate this model with python based desktop application that can be used by mine managers, engineers and miners to manage all the different aspects of mine. | |
| Who are your competitors ? How is your solution different | |
| BIM has been used for many building projects but it has never been used for modelling of mine. This project can provide people related to mines with an innovative solution that will cater needs of specifically mines in Pakistan. | |
